Feversham Girls' Academy (FGA) is proud to announce that it has been commended by The Rt Hon. Gillian Keegan MP, Secretary of State for Education, for significant improvements in student attendance. This recognition underscores the dedication and collaborative efforts of our staff, students, and the entire school community.
In her message, The Rt Hon. Gillian Keegan MP highlighted the substantial progress made by FGA in enhancing attendance levels over the last academic year. Our school's daily attendance data up to 24th November shows a remarkable improvement compared to the data for Autumn 2022, surpassing the pre-pandemic secondary average for schools in England.
Ms. Sajida Muneer, Principal of Feversham Girls' Academy, added, “I am immensely proud of our pupils, staff, and parents for their collective efforts in improving our attendance figures. This recognition from the Secretary of State for Education is not just an accolade for our school but a testament to our community’s resilience and commitment to education. We will continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of our pupils' development.”
Professor Khurshid Khan, CEO of iExel Education Trust, commended the Academy, saying, “This achievement by Feversham Girls' Academy exemplifies the ethos of iExel Education Trust in 'Creating Brighter Futures'. The dedication shown by everyone at the academy, even in the face of post-pandemic challenges, is a shining example of our commitment to excellence in education. Congratulations to the entire team (pupils, staff, and parents) at Feversham for setting such a high standard.”
This achievement resonates with Secretary of State Keegan's emphasis on the importance of regular attendance for pupils' academic performance, mental wellbeing, safety, and long-term development. The strong correlation between consistent attendance and academic success, especially in key examinations, serves as a source of inspiration for our community.
We are deeply grateful for Secretary of State Keegan's acknowledgment of the challenges faced by schools in improving attendance post-pandemic. The progress at Feversham Girls' Academy reflects immense dedication and hard work from our educators and support staff, bolstered by the unwavering support of our wider school community. We recognise the continued efforts required to maintain and further improve our attendance rates.
Feversham Girls' Academy is eager to share our successful strategies and learnings to support and inspire other schools. By emphasising that every school hour is crucial, we are dedicated to ensuring our pupils value and make the most of their educational journey.
